Hey! I’m an Aerospace Engineering graduate who decided Maths and Sciences shouldn’t feel like a foreign language. I turn the “what is this even?” moments into “ohhh, that’s how it works! I do understand how challenging these subjects can feel, which is why I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, logical steps that actually make sense. I’ve helped students improve grades, boost confidence, and even start enjoying the subjects they once found intimidating. My lessons are well-structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s learning style, whether you’re aiming for top exam results or just want to build a stronger foundation. My lessons focus on understanding the “why” behind each concept, not just memorising formulae. I use real-life examples from engineering to bring ideas to life and adapt my approach to each student’s learning style. I use step-by-step explanations, visual aids, and real-world examples to help students see how theory connects to practice. Every session is tailored to suit the student’s learning style and goals. Come join, let’s make Maths and your Sciences finally make sense… and fun! I hold a first class degree in Aerospace Engineering, where I developed a strong foundation in advanced Mathematics, Physics, and problem-solving. My studies focused on aerodynamics, materials, and adaptive wing technologies, areas that taught me how to apply theory to real-world engineering challenges. Throughout my degree, I gained extensive experience using analytical and design tools, which deepened my understanding of the core Maths and Physics principles behind modern engineering. This hands-on background helps me explain complex topics clearly and show students how what they’re learning connects to practical, real-life applications.

Lower levels: Math, Chemistry, Biology GCSE level: Math, Chemistry, Biology Languages: English, Italian, Sinhala Preferred age groups: 5 yrs -16 yrs (YEAR 1- YEAR 11-OL) Hello parents and kids! My name is Mashika, and I am a civil engineer and a have also worked as a middle school and high school teacher at Villa Grimani International School in Italy. I have a robust educational background that includes a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in Complex Systems Engineering that I am currently pursuing. Additionally, I am passionate about child psychology and have read extensively on the subject to deepen my understanding of how children learn. This has truly shaped my teaching style which involves alot of interactive discussions and problem solving which in turn leads to increased self confidence and reasoning ability in students. Throughout my teaching journey, I have had the privilege of tutoring students of different ages and backgrounds in subjects such as Math, Chemistry, and Biology. This experience has strengthened my teaching skills, especially when it comes to understanding different student learning styles. I have found it fascinating to see how students grasp new concepts when they are related to real-life analogies. I find great joy in teaching, and one of my favorite quotes is by Steve Jobs, who said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do". As a former student myself, I understand the challenges of studying, and I strive to make learning fun for my students. ARE YOU EXCITED TO JOIN ME ON THIS ACADEMIC JOURNEY? Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) - 4 years Master of Science Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Georgia State University (GSU) - 2 years Teaching assistant (TA) for the biology department at GSU for 4 semesters at a biology laboratory course - 3 semesters Neuroscience research at the DKFZ in Heidelberg (Germany) with professor Hannah Monyer Currently doing a PhD in neuroscience at IRB Lleida located in my hometown, Lleida (Spain). Over 500 lessons taught to over 20 students in this platform Keen on helping students learn the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in biology and chemistry for both A-level and GCSE exams My teaching experience includes teaching assistant position at a biology lab at Georgia State University (United States of America) for 4 semesters as well as teaching different techniques to lab groups at the institution I am currently enrolled in doing my PhD. I have also delivered over 500 lessons on this online platform to over 20 students seeking help for their GCSE, OCR, WJEC, and AQA A-level exam boards in both chemistry and biology. While my experiences both as a student and as a teacher have developed my communication skills by using the proper tone and terminology, I value the most having learned from the doubts and questions from my past students as well as having done many final past paper questions. Despite every student being different, experience helps tremendously. Some students are very advanced and prefer working on past paper questions by tackling some specific aspects of the exam board, while some others require a bit more work on some modules and require a session more akin to covering a variety of concepts. When teaching new concepts, I use self-made PowerPoint slides specifically designed to incorporate the knowledge required to succeed in the exam questions for that exam board. In these slides, I use a scaffolding teaching technique which is about covering fundamental learning outcomes prior moving towards the more advanced concepts. I also incorporate past paper questions in every lesson to ensure the student is engaging in proactive learning, and not simply passively listening to me talk for 50 minutes. Overall, my goal is to engage the student in his or her own learning by teaching them skills and by giving them greater focus in some areas of each module. A lot of concepts are covered in these exam boards but knowing where to place great emphasis surely fosters their learning. This is where experience teaching these exams really comes into play, and it will also help me quickly devise the best study plan for the student. To complement my online teaching sessions, I have a digital pad that enables me to quickly write notes, draw or paste diagrams to ensure the lesson is smooth and dynamic. Online teaching may seem, at first glance, limited in terms of being able to write notes, however, currently online learning has been greatly updated thanks to such devices. I am currently only teaching biology and chemistry from GCSE and A-level exams but not higher levels (i.e. not teaching university programs). Like many teachers, my personal preference are students that are keen on learning regardless of their starting point. However, I have taught students that needed motivation coming from me and I was able to help them significantly. I will be happy to answer any questions that may concern you in the trial session if these were not answered in this introduction or by any GoStudent agent.

"Hi Christine, Diarmuid here. I just got my results and I got the 2nd highest German grade you can get. You helped me so much and I can't thank you enough." Hello there! My name is Christine and I am a junior doctor. I have always been passionate about learning and sharing knowledge in a manner that's simple and enjoyable. With over 5 years tutoring experience, I focus on an engaging, holistic, and student-centric approach to tutoring, whilst sharing my passion and love for learning! I firmly believe the key to mastering anything is understanding the basics and then weaving them together to gain the bigger picture. I have worked diligently to hone my skils over the years, even applying them in my own studies in the medical field, and have been able to get testimonials such as the one above and: "Hi Christina only to let you know Felipe had a 6 in biology which is very good compared with the 3 in January! Hope we can work together from September. So, thank you x" - Pilar "Just to let you know Yousef passed all his GCSEs. Thank you." - Naz "Hii, it’s Mike. I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me this year and I wouldn’t have done it without your help and support." During the sessions, I work with my students through the agreed upon topic paying close attention to the core concepts, we go through some exam-style questions, and also learn how to frame the answers in the way examiners expect. I also share effecting studying and memory techniques to enable them to better learn and master their content. In my spare time, I enjoy singing (I'm currently taking a music theory class and hope to progress to one day play the cello) and dancing. These help me unwind and also have fun! I look forward to extending this interesting mixture of fun and learning to my students and help the strike that oh-so-elusive balance between work and play so that they can become the best versions of themselves. Would you like to have similar testimonials as these? "hellooooo! hope your doing well. it’s the results day today, just letting you know that i got a 7 in german!! i am very happy with the results, thank you so much for all of your help i definitely wouldn’t have got this if it wasn’t for you 😁" - Shangami "Hello Christine, I hope you have had a good summer. Alastair wanted you to know he passed GCSE combined. He got 55 Score for his GCSE. He is now going to do A levels and considering btec science to compliment a level PE. Levels and Subjects: Lower level - Biology, Chemistry GCSE - Biology, Chemistry A Level - Biology, Chemistry Exam Boards: My Biology and Chemistry A Levels were both AQA, as was the exam board I have been tutoring year 13s at my old sixth form. *I tutor all exam boards except CIE* SEND: I have experience tutoring students with ADHD, autism and dyslexia at my old sixth form. Preferred age group: GCSE and A Level About me: I am 22 years old and in my second year of university, doing chemistry at the University of Liverpool. In my gap year, I worked at my old school, where I tutored AQA biology and chemistry to small groups of year 13s. Before Chemistry, I studied medicine at Queen Mary University of London, Malta campus, so I have a lot of knowledge about medical university entry requirements and where might be best, depending on your UCAT and GCSE grades. Some of my hobbies include surfing, going to the gym, gaming and music. I enjoy concerts and music festivals, and have tickets to see Gorillaz in June after my exams are done. I grew up in Ireland and moved here at 14 at the start of year 9, so if you are unfamiliar with the UK and its education system and are trying to get to grips with it, I believe I'll be able to help you immensely, as I went through the same thing.
