Hello! My name is Ria, and I am a Chemical Engineering graduate with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where I completed my degree in November 2025. I am passionate about education and enjoy helping students build confidence in their abilities. While I primarily tutor Mathematics, I can also assist with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition, I completed several engineering design projects involving distillation design, reactor design, process simulation, process optimisation, and process control. These projects required the use of engineering software and the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. They also strengthened my teamwork, problem-solving, and project management abilities. Throughout my academic journey, I have regularly assisted family members, friends, and classmates with their studies, ranging from school-level mathematics and science to university-level engineering concepts. I'm currently a veterinary medicine student at university, slated to graduate in 2030. I have two younger brothers and have always been one of those strange children who enjoyed going to school for the learning, not just the fun. Outside of education I am a knitter, a crocheter, a badminton player, and an avid creative writer. I was involved in Scouts for two years and was part of the National Honour Society in high school, a society for students in American high schools that select members based on four pillars: academics, character, service, and leadership. I enjoy explaining things and hope to ensure that my students gain a greater appreciation of the subject matter, but I will settle for getting them through their exams if that's all they want. I attended CAJ, an international high school in Japan that following the American curriculum. I took 10 AP subjects, which are slightly narrower in scope but no less thorough in depth than A levels, and scored 5s (highest score) in all but English language, where I scored a 3 (pass mark). The AP subjects I took were Japanese, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Physics 1, Physics 2, Chemistry, Biology, English Language and Comprehension, and English Literature and Composition.

Hi! I'm Michaelangelos, a mathematics graduate from the University of St Andrews (MMath) and incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow. I've been tutoring maths for several years, including Higher and National 5, and it's something I genuinely love doing. What I care most about is helping students build real confidence and intuition, not just memorise steps. Maths can feel intimidating, and I get a lot of satisfaction from being the person who helps make it click, whether that's turning anxiety into understanding, or helping a curious student go further than they thought possible. I’m a third-year aeronautical engineering student who knows from experience what it feels like when lectures, textbooks, or problem sheets just don’t make sense the first (or fifth) time. I’ve been in the position where school support wasn’t quite enough, which is why I enjoy helping students bridge that gap and actually understand what’s going on, not just memorise steps. My approach is relaxed, patient, and focused on building confidence alongside knowledge. There are no silly questions here — if something doesn’t make sense, that just means it’s worth asking about as I strongly believe that asking questions is part of learning, and no one should feel embarrassed for needing things explained differently. Outside academics, I’m a big sports fan and still play football for my own club as well as my university team.
