In my spare time, I design and build effects pedals for musical instruments. I love music and I play guitar in a band, gigging regularly. I’m also a big reader and enjoy running. I completed my GCSEs and A-levels at St. Robert of Newminster in Sunderland, achieving all 8s and 9s, and 3 A*s respectively. After, I studied BSc Physics at the University of Manchester, receiving a first class honours. I am currently studying archeology and ancient history at Oxford university, so I have a passion for all things from the past. I'm Theo, I'm 19 and a second year studying Economics at Warwick. I tutor A-Level and GCSE Maths and A-Level Economics. I have previously helped my GCSE students get from disappointing results in their mocks to achieving 7-9s and feeling exceptionally proud of themselves. I help my students tackle the topics they find the hardest, understand exam technique and build revision strategies. I am currently in my second year studying BSc Economics at the University of Warwick. I achieved 3A* at A-Level in Economics, Maths and Biology at Elthorne Park High School - a state school in West London. This included 90%+ in all 3 Maths papers and the highest marks in my year group across Economics and Biology.

Howdy! I'm Josh, a 24-year-old from the West Midlands in England. I speak four languages: English (native), French, German and Spanish. I have studied the latter three to degree level and will be teaching all three with GoStudent. In particular, I specialise in applied grammar and translation - after all, if you know how to use something in practice, what's the use of learning or knowing the theory behind it? Outside of academia, I've been a radio presenter for five years and currently host a country music show and the Friday Breakfast Show on a local station. I am also a Grade 7 drummer, an avid autobiography reader and obsessed with football (I'm a Manchester United supporter, for my sins).

What is Key Stage 4?
Key Stage 4 (KS4) comprises Year 10 and Year 11, when students are aged between 14 and 16. During this time they are working towards their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education), which are a gateway to further education and career paths.
What subjects are covered in Key Stage 4?
The national curriculum offers the following subjects:
Compulsory subjects that must be taken by all students are:
Schools must also offer at least one subject from each of these areas:
Academic students may be encouraged to take the English Baccalaureate, or EBacc. This is not a separate qualification, but a combination of six different GCSEs: English, maths, two sciences, a language and either history or geography.
Schools must also provide relationships, sex and health education and Religious Education (RE). Parents can ask for their children to be taken out of sex education lessons and all or some of RE lessons.
What is the focus of KS4?
The focus at KS4 is around preparing pupils for their transition to post-16 provision at the end of Year 11, for example A-levels, BTECs or the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Most students work towards national qualifications, usually their GCSEs. This is when they will start to study subjects that align with their strengths, interests and future goals, and at a greater depth than they have been able to before.
How to choose a KS4 tutor
Many students struggle with the one-size-fits-all approach often found in classroom settings. This can lead them to develop a negative mindset towards learning and a loss in confidence in their abilities. They can fall behind in their schoolwork and lose the motivation to put in the required effort to succeed.
KS4 tutors can provide targeted support in specific subjects where students may be struggling or need extra help to excel. This can be especially helpful if the student has special educational needs such as ADHD or dyslexia.
While most final exams take place at the end of Year 11, coursework and assessments are completed throughout the stage, so it’s important students always perform to their full potential.
GoStudent tutors have expertise in specific subject areas on the curriculum and offer a personalised approach tailored to individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. They can close knowledge gaps, keep learning on track and help with exam preparation.
In addition, they can teach effective study techniques and time management strategies which can significantly improve performance, not only in KS4 but for the rest of the student’s academic career.
How much does private KS4 tuition cost?
Prices for private KS4 tuition can be as low as £21.99. The cost of each individual lesson will depend on how many lessons your child takes per week and how long they would like tuition for. Book a free trial session to see how affordable private KS4 tutoring can be with GoStudent.

And with GoStudent your child isn't tied into one level. If they are taking KS4 tuition but then need support with a different level, we can help them get that support with a tutor specialised in that level.
