I currently study medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. I achieved high grades (As and A*s) at GCSE, A-level, and passed the 11 plus exam so I would like to help other students do the same. My specialties lie in science and math. I can also help with medicine applications. In my free time, I like to dance, crochet and right now I am learning how to cook!

I have formal experiences of teaching Japanese exchange students English and also casually teaching students at GCSE level. I have been with GoStudent for almost a year, teaching over 50 lessons to students. I have 11 GCSE's which are grade 9, including maths, english and all 3 sciences. I did 4 A Levels which resulted in me getting an A* in Maths and Chemistry and an A in Biology. I would like to offer tutoring for Maths, Biology and Chemistry for GCSE, and Biology and Chemistry for A Levels.

Hi! My names Guy and I have just finished my Undergraduate degree in Theology, Religion and Culture at King’s College London! The beauty of a theology degree is that it is extremely multi-dimensional, allowing me to study areas such as Ancient Greek, Sociology, Christian Art, Film, and Philosophy to name a few. Additionally I have A*’s in Biology and RS A-level and am very much looking forward to the opportunity to get share what I have learnt with my tutees, helping them to be able to walk away from any Exam or piece of homework being able to say they did the absolute best they could! Tutoring at Key Stage 3 level

What is Key Stage 3?

Key Stage 3 (KS3) covers the three years of school known as Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9, when students are between 11 and 14 years of age.

It follows the national curriculum and prepares children for more advanced learning at KS4/GCSE level.

What subjects are covered in Key Stage 3?

The compulsory subjects at Key Stage 3 are:

  • English (Literature, Language)
  • Mathematics
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Art and Design
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Modern foreign languages
  • Music
  • Citizenship
  • Physical Education (PE)

Additional subjects include Religious Education (RE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), which includes sex education. Parents can request that their children opt out of sex education lessons and either parts of RE or all the lessons.

The focus of Key Stage 3

KS3 forms a bridge between primary school and GCSE study. It deepens knowledge and understanding in the different subjects and focuses on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The curriculum is designed to be broad so that students can explore their interests and abilities in a wide range of subjects. This is essential when it comes to deciding which subjects to pursue at GCSE level – a crucial decision which influences future academic and career paths.

How is KS3 assessed?

Learning is assessed in two ways: how well students are learning and remembering the curriculum and whether they are understanding what they have learned.

There are no national or external assessments at Key Stage 3. Instead, teachers carry out ongoing assessments for each pupil in each of the year groups.

How to choose a KS3 tutor

Whether your child is struggling with making the transition from primary to secondary school or having difficulties with one or more subjects in any of the years, a KS3 tutor can help them close any gaps in their understanding while helping to build confidence and motivation.

Tutoring can also help students needing an extra boost before entering the Key Stage 4 GCSE years.

It’s essential the tutor is a subject specialist and experienced in adaptive learning, which prioritises personalised learning tailored to the individual’s needs and understanding. This approach allows students to work at their own pace and truly master any problem areas before moving on.

GoStudent has a range of qualified and experienced tutors in all subjects covered in the KS3 curriculum. They can suggest effective study techniques and deepen understanding while helping create a study plan that will keep learning on track.

With the help of a tutor, your child can reach their full potential and develop love of learning that will carry them through the rest of their school years and beyond.
