I'm Charlotte! I have just finished studying my Master’s in International Relations with International Law. I previously studied, and obtained, a B.A. in History. I have been tutoring for two and a half years now, specialising in English and History. It has been amazing watching my students grow in their education and helping them achieve the best possible grades. I enjoy reading in my spare time, particularly fantasy books, and going for long walks along the beach by my house. Alongside reading and beach walks, I enjoy playing Xbox with my family and friends. I am looking forward to meeting you! I have just graduated with my Master's in International Relations with International Law. I am fascinated by politics and law, and looking at the different ways the world functions and works together, or against one another. I have a B.A. in History from the University of York. About me: Hi! I’m Irene. I have been involved in teaching for 2 years, having previously worked with students age 4-16 as a teaching assistant in the UK and in Spain. My experience has allowed me to develop my confidence in teaching students from KS1 all the way up to A-level. In addition, in my second and final year at University I tutored 1st year Biology students who were struggling with the jump from A-level to undergrad, helping them develop their statistical, critical analysis and exam writing skills. Levels & subjects - Lower level: Biology - GCSE: Biology -A-LEVEL (IB): Biology - Higher level: Biology Exam board experience: - AQA, Edexcel A&B, OCR A&B, WJEC Languages: Spanish- I am bilingual and worked in a Spanish school in Madrid for 1 year. SEND: I have experience working as a SEN TA. I worked with students who had DLD, dyslexia, Autism, anxiety and down syndrome Preferred student group: I am happy to teach from primary up to A-LEVEL. While at school, I was always the kid in class who asked SO many questions because I often found science and maths lessons to be a huge information overload! Thanks to the patience of my teachers and a dedicated tutor I excelled in my science and maths GCSEs and A-Levels which ultimately gave me the confidence to go on and study Biology at the University of Leeds. I strive to give my students the same patience and dedication I received in school to them!

Hi! My name is Shaanya and I am a first year medical student at UCL. I have been a dedicated tutor for 1.5 years and have a strong passion for teaching science and mathematics and helping students build confidence in these subjects. My approach focuses on making complex ideas simple and engaging by breaking them down into clear, logical steps. I believe that every student can succeed in maths and science with the right guidance, patience, and practice. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. Rather than just memorising formulas, I help students understand the reasoning behind them so they can apply their knowledge to different problems. This approach helps develop critical thinking and long-term understanding. I have experience supporting students with topics such as algebra, geometry, physics, and basic chemistry and biology concepts. I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s learning style, whether that involves step-by-step problem solving, visual explanations, or real-world examples that make the subject more relatable. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop curiosity and confidence in science and maths. Seeing students progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals is what motivates me most as an educator. I attended Godolphin and Latymer Secondary School from years 7-13 which provided me with a strong foundation of education. Here I sat my GCSE's and scored 11 grade 9's. I also sat my A-Level's at this schools and achieved 3 A*'s and 1 A. My secondary school education provided a strong academic basis and developed my ability to support others in their learning. Throughout my studies, I consistently achieved good results and demonstrated a clear understanding of key subjects such as mathematics and science. I often assisted classmates by explaining complex topics in a clear and patient manner, helping them gain confidence and improve their understanding. This experience strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. It also confirmed my interest in tutoring and academic support. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I developed during my secondary education enabled me to be an effective, reliable, and supportive tutor. I am currently studying medicine at University College London and am in my first year. My first year of medical university education has helped me become a good tutor by strengthening both my knowledge and communication skills. Studying subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry requires deep understanding and regular revision, which allows me to explain complex concepts clearly to others. Medical training also encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and patience—qualities that are essential for effective tutoring. Through group discussions and collaborative learning, I have learned how to adapt explanations to different learning styles. As a result, I can support students confidently, break down difficult topics into simple steps, and help them build both understanding and confidence in their studies.

Hello! I am a second-year student at the University of Bristol, studying Engineering Maths:) This really gives me a sense of pride, allowing me to see my work and efforts have a real positive impact. Before University, during my A-Levels, I privately tutored many students, across numerous subjects. My students were always so happy and proud of themselves for reaching grades they never thought possible. Aside from my studies, I enjoy drumming, going to the gym and being a part of my university's RAF Air Squadron. In 2021 I completed Renishaw Engineering Work Experience. This gave me Project Management skills, team-building characteristics and other proactive traits. I have devoted 6 years to my time as a member of the Air Cadets and 1 year to my University Air Squadron. This has given me a vast skill set, making me adaptable to various situations. Over the years I have had many jobs to suit my lifestyle. These include being a Resin Caster, Delivery Driver, and Tutor.

With experience in tutoring all the way up to Undergraduate level in Mathematics, Engineering and Physics, I can provide a high level of support and assistance in these fields. I am currently working towards a Doctorate in Engineering with the Universities of Exeter, Warwick, and Cranfield. After completing my A Levels in Mathematics, Physics, and Geography, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering achieving a First-Class degree in which I developed a smart electronic prosthetic system using soft robotics. Alongside my academic experience, I have developed a wide portfolio in my field. From industrial experience in Formula One to renewable energy generation, Artificial Intelligent systems and plant-based wetsuit designs, I am able to provide insights and the knowledge you need pursue Science and Engineering after your A Levels and GCSEs if you wish. I don’t just tutor and research all day either! I (try to!) surf as much as I can and I also work on various wildlife film projects, many being underwater shoots. I’m not here to judge you on your abilities. There are no stupid questions. I won’t be shouting equations at you. I like to work in a relaxed and supportive environment where we can focus on your needs and targets together while tailoring the sessions for you so that we can achieve our goals. During my time on Gostudent, I have clocked several hundred sessions, setup a purpose built tutoring desk environment with multiple cameras/ lighting to aid in tutoring and taken students from low confidence and little understanding to a point where some even chose to pursue their once hated subjects at higher level and are excelling at university/ new careers. I am confident in my tutoring abilities, have been recommended by multiple parents and become invested in my students to do the best they can. Tutoring at Key Stage 3 level

What is Key Stage 3?

Key Stage 3 (KS3) covers the three years of school known as Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9, when students are between 11 and 14 years of age.

It follows the national curriculum and prepares children for more advanced learning at KS4/GCSE level.

What subjects are covered in Key Stage 3?

The compulsory subjects at Key Stage 3 are:

  • English (Literature, Language)
  • Mathematics
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Art and Design
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Modern foreign languages
  • Music
  • Citizenship
  • Physical Education (PE)

Additional subjects include Religious Education (RE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), which includes sex education. Parents can request that their children opt out of sex education lessons and either parts of RE or all the lessons.

The focus of Key Stage 3

KS3 forms a bridge between primary school and GCSE study. It deepens knowledge and understanding in the different subjects and focuses on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The curriculum is designed to be broad so that students can explore their interests and abilities in a wide range of subjects. This is essential when it comes to deciding which subjects to pursue at GCSE level – a crucial decision which influences future academic and career paths.

How is KS3 assessed?

Learning is assessed in two ways: how well students are learning and remembering the curriculum and whether they are understanding what they have learned.

There are no national or external assessments at Key Stage 3. Instead, teachers carry out ongoing assessments for each pupil in each of the year groups.

How to choose a KS3 tutor

Whether your child is struggling with making the transition from primary to secondary school or having difficulties with one or more subjects in any of the years, a KS3 tutor can help them close any gaps in their understanding while helping to build confidence and motivation.

Tutoring can also help students needing an extra boost before entering the Key Stage 4 GCSE years.

It’s essential the tutor is a subject specialist and experienced in adaptive learning, which prioritises personalised learning tailored to the individual’s needs and understanding. This approach allows students to work at their own pace and truly master any problem areas before moving on.

GoStudent has a range of qualified and experienced tutors in all subjects covered in the KS3 curriculum. They can suggest effective study techniques and deepen understanding while helping create a study plan that will keep learning on track.

With the help of a tutor, your child can reach their full potential and develop love of learning that will carry them through the rest of their school years and beyond.
