I am a results-oriented, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual with strong interpersonal skills who has maintained a positive attitude in all situations. I enjoy learning new things, taking on challenges, and finding practical solutions to problems. Whether working independently or as part of a team, I bring a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to doing my best. My role of Head Girl at my past school, St John's College allowed me to improve my time management skills as I had to balance this role alongside my A Level examinations and UCAS deadlines. I've been a ballet dancer since the age of 4 and have completed my Grade 8 aswell as my Intermediate qualification. I've also completed my RAD Assistant Teacher Training course which helped my organisational skills and highlights my dedication to teaching others. I want to teach because I enjoy helping others understand topics they once found difficult and seeing their confidence grow. Maths can feel intimidating, and I find it rewarding to break concepts down in a clear, supportive way that makes learning feel achievable. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge while making a positive, practical difference to students’ academic journeys. Hello, I’m George, a qualified and experienced Science teacher specialising in Biology. I began teaching in a secondary school and sixth form in 2020 and have more than 2000 hours of teaching experience and have taught hundreds of students across KS3, GCSE, and A-level, helping them achieve real progress and confidence in their science studies. My passion for teaching began during a volunteer placement in Ghana in 2016, where I taught English and helped coach local sports teams, seeing first-hand the transformative power of education. I later supported first-year university students as a Peer Assisted Study Leader at the University of Bristol, further developing my skills in guiding students to achieve their potential. I hold a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Bristol and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary Science from the University of Buckingham. Through my university studies, I have not only gained expert science subject knowledge but I also have an excellent understanding of the latest teaching methods to help facilitate learning and, ultimately, help pupils achieve their goals. Beyond the classroom, I have been involved in conservation projects in Sri Lanka and Costa Rica, experiences that have deepened my enthusiasm for Biology and environmental studies — knowledge I bring into my lessons to inspire students. As a tutor, I tailor each session to the individual needs of the student, combining engaging activities with exam-focused strategies. I emphasise exam technique, including effective question approaches and time management, to ensure students are confident and fully prepared for assessments. My lessons are interactive, personalised, and designed to build both understanding and results. With my classroom experience, subject expertise, and commitment to student success, I offer more than typical tutoring — I bring a teacher’s insight and proven methods to help you excel in Biology. As a secondary school pupil myself I achieved excellent results, obtaining 12 GCSES all graded A or A*, including Maths & English, with A*'s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. At A-level I then went on to study Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Religious Education and also achieved an AS level qualification in Critical thinking. Following this, I attended the University of Bristol, a Russel Group university which is renowned for its world-leading research and academic excellence. Here, I achieved my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. Following this, I began working towards achieving qualified teacher status and took my first post as a teacher of Science at a secondary school in 2020. I attended the university of Buckingham and completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education with a focus on Science in order to become a qualified teacher. Through my university studies, I have not only gained expert science subject knowledge but I also have an excellent understanding of the latest teaching methods to help facilitate learning and, ultimately, help pupils achieve their goals. Further to this I also have other experience in coaching and mentoring roles. In 2016, I volunteered for 6 weeks in a primary school in Accra, Ghana. My primary role was teaching English to students, but given that I have achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training and level 1 qualified rugby coach, I also helped to introduce organised sport in the school and also coached local men's rugby team, the Dansoman Hurricanes.

What is the IGCSE?
The IGCSE (which stands for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is taken by students aged 14-16 (Year 10 and 11) to prepare them for further pre-university level study, such as A-levels.
It offers the same level of education as a traditional GCSE but does not have a UK-centric curriculum. For example, Shakespeare is a compulsory part of GCSE English Literature but not the IGCSE.
Children in state schools usually take GCSEs whilst those in private and international schools are more likely to take IGCSEs. Universities do not distinguish between the two when it comes to entry requirements. The exams are assessed externally.
What is the focus of the IGCSE?
The IGCSE focuses on developing understanding, skill, and knowledge in the following areas:
Subject content
The application of knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
Intellectual enquiry
Flexibility and responsiveness to change
Working and communicating in English
Influencing outcomes
Cultural awareness
What subjects are studied?
IGCSEs are available in a broad range of subjects but curriculums vary considerably depending on the school.
Students typically take seven to nine subjects, which must include the core subjects of English, mathematics and science (biology, chemistry, physics).
Optional subjects include humanities (history, geography), modern languages, the creative arts (art, music), STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and sports.
Preparing for the IGCSEs
Historically, the GCSE had a greater amount of coursework in the syllabus compared to the IGCSE. This has changed in recent years and both qualifications are based mainly on the end-of-course exams.
The exams test theoretical knowledge, practical skills, problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills – which are essential for further education as well as future careers.
Revision is key to retaining information and reinforcing understanding and should be done regularly rather than cramming all the content at the last minute.
Practicing past papers and taking mock exams will allow you to become familiar with the exam structure, improve your time management skills and discover any areas of weakness.
How can a tutor help with preparing for the IGCSEs?
A tutor can help at any stage of the process, whether it is over the two years of study or in the run-up to the exams.
GoStudent IGCSE tutors have experience in the specific subjects covered in the curriculum as well as a proven track record of success. They offer personalised lessons that can target problematic areas and can help create realistic and achievable study schedules that balance your time across the different subjects.
ICGSE tutors can also teach you effective study techniques. These will help you not only with the exams but in your future academic career.
If you are struggling with either the coursework or exam preparation, don’t delay seeking help. Feeling prepared and confident for your exams allows you to have a clear and focused mind - and achieve to your full potential.

How can your child benefit from iGCSE tuition?
The main reason that parents often start to look for a iGCSE tutor is to improve their child’s academic performance. It’s needless to say that tutoring will prepare your child for important exams and tests and address specific problem areas that they might have in a particular subject. Your child’s grades and understanding of the subject will improve when working with a tutor but there are also other benefits you might consider when deciding whether to opt for private iGCSE tutoring. Tutoring encourages self-directed learning. This means that your child will learn to take the initiative in their schoolwork, with the result that they will feel less overwhelmed or frustrated with school and more in control of their own learning. They will also learn study skills that will help them in life when it comes to university and beyond. Whether it’s learning to overcome obstacles in their studies, losing the fear of asking questions or even working on their social skills. Sign up for a free trial lesson to discover the benefits of tutoring for yourself.
