I have been tutoring with GoStudent for almost a year now, having formerly worked at museums, churches and summer camps. I enjoy working with children and am a current Sunday-School teacher and former volunteer with several youth charities. I also have two years of classroom experience with Years 2 and 3, but am happy to work with children of any age, teaching English, Maths, History, Latin, and RE. Please note I do not take adult learners at this time. I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge with a first-class degree in History, also having taken papers in Classics and Theology. I won several prizes during my degree, including three prize scholarships and the Roy Porter Prize for History in my second year. Prior to my degree, I took three A-Levels in History, Maths and English, receiving all A*s, and prior to that, ten GCSEs, receiving all 9s.

My name is Alinah Mampiti Thakhuli, and I am a passionate, hardworking, and dedicated university student currently completing my final year of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry at North-West University. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, which have strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging way. Teaching has always been one of my greatest passions. I have gained valuable experience tutoring Mathematics and enjoy helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals. I believe every student has the potential to succeed when they receive patient guidance, encouragement, and teaching that is adapted to their individual learning style. Beyond academics, I have actively taken on leadership roles, including serving as a residence house committee secretary, participating in university event management, and serving in leadership within my church. I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry at North-West University (NWU), South Africa. Throughout my studies, I have developed a strong foundation in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Laboratory Sciences. My degree has equipped me with advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, enabling me to break down complex scientific concepts into simple, understandable explanations for learners of different abilities. In addition to my university studies, I have practical tutoring experience in Mathematics, where I have worked with students to improve their understanding of key concepts, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities. I enjoy adapting my teaching methods to suit each student's individual learning style, whether they benefit most from visual explanations, step-by-step problem solving, or practical examples. Beyond tutoring, I have held several leadership positions at university and within my community, which have strengthened my communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. I tutor with passion, purpose and a genuine commitment to helping every student reach their potential. My approach is flexible and completely student-centred, because I understand that every learner is different and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education. I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence. My goal is not just to help students succeed in their lessons, but to give them the skills, understanding and confidence to become independent learners beyond the classroom. I completed my GCSEs in the United Kingdom, where I built a strong academic foundation and developed essential study skills. About me I love to travel, explore new places and meet people from different cultures. I spent ten years living in Athens, Greece where I worked as a private tutor: teaching TEFL to a wide variety of people - from complete beginners to students wishing to take Cambridge Proficiency exams in order to access UK universities. I have a BA Hons degree in Modern Languages: English/French with a module in Classical Greek Language and Literature. I believe in stress-free lessons , and learning in a relaxed setting. As a tutor I am not there to add pressure, but to help take pressure off. In terms of hobbies, I love reading, writing stories, and watching Turkish TV dramas. I am also a huge tennis fan. Last, but not least, I enjoy all forms of sugar - especially cake! Aside from my degree, I am qualified to teach TEFL. I really enjoy working with those who don't have English as a first language. It's a thrill to help them improve their speaking and listening - as well as reading and writing skills. It's wonderful to see them grow in confidence when expressing themselves in English. Furthermore, I am qualified to do proofreading. This fits in well with teaching English. I also have a certificate in Counselling Skills.
