Hello! My name is Laura Cain and I am a student at Nottingham University. In my spare time, I enjoy playing classical piano and musical arts. I am a third year medical student at Imperial College London, who also attended Queen Elizabeth's Boys' School. Whilst being a student, who's done his 11+, GCSEs and A-levels, I had to came up with new techniques to try and break down complex topics into smaller and simpler topics. I would love to pass on this knowledge, that I have gained through my experiences, onto younger students who are currently going through the processes that I did. My teaching style consists of seeing how each individual student learns best and then gearing my lessons towards their particular strengths to make learning as easy and fun as possible. I have been teaching GCSE & A-Level Maths & Sciences for upwards of 5 years now. Taking complicated ideas and simplifying them down to simple, discrete, and graspable bite-sized chunks is my passion. Exam prep. & practice is what I specialize in. Having been through the med-school application process and exams, I have learned quite a bit about exam strategies. I am a final year medical student, studying to become a medical doctor. I completed 4 A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Plymouth. From a young age I have always enjoyed helping others as it brings happiness and joy to me. This is also the main reason why I wanted to become a tutor. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports, particularly football and cricket. I have 2 younger brothers, so I am always entertained. I love talking and spending time with them. For secondary school, I attended the Oxford Spires Academy where I completed my GCSEs. For 6th form, I was accepted by The Cherwell School, where I completed my A-levels. At GCSE level science I achieved a grade 8/8 and at A-levels I achieved grades A in both Biology and Chemistry. In my first year of UCAS application, I did not receive any offers to study Medicine at University. However, towards the end of summer I came across an opportunity to study medicine through an alternative route. The University of Plymouth were offering a one-year transfer from Biomed to Medicine providing one achieved 3 As at A-levels, maintained a 70% pass rate across all modules in 1st year and passed the interview for Medicine. In the previous year only 2/23 applicants were successful in this route. Although this was intense, I was able to successfully transfer from Biomed to Medicine after the 1st year.
