Hi, I'm Rafaela, a 19 year old university student who believes learning should be engaging and built on a genuine connection. I grew up in an international school abroad providing me with a diverse range of knowledge on different cultures as well as a broader perspective. At school I was head girl, providing me with leadership qualities as well as experience working with students from a wide range of year groups. When I’m not tutoring or studying, you'll probably find me at the gym with my friends, playing netball, reading a new book or baking something sweet. My hobbies not only bring me joy but they have taught me valuable lessons. For example, I have learnt both in and outside of school that practice does make perfect, and that nothing is impossible but instead sometimes a difficult journey to success. I am in my second year of a four year course, meaning i will graduate in 2028. Prior to this, i completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme for my last two years of school, receiving 36 points overall, with a 6 in higher level English. I also received 10 GCSE's, 6 A's and 4 A*s in 2022, getting A*s in both English Language and English Literature. My experience with tutoring has only ever been specific to English. I have tutored privately for two separate families, for children ranging between 5 - 13 years old. I first started tutoring English in 2020 and have been on and off tutoring for 5 years. Other work i have completed before has also been children specific, babysitting and netball coaching meaning i have lots of experience coaching and working with a large range of age groups.

Hi, I’m Sophie! I love teaching Maths and English, and have experience in tutoring students from 11+ to A Level. I achieved straight 9s in my GCSEs and A*s and As in A Levels, and have a particular interest in the philosophy of mathematics. My lessons focus on breaking down challenging ideas into manageable, clear steps, while building the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in exams. First and foremost, I approach teaching with genuine enthusiasm and a passion for the subject, and I hope to inspire that same curiosity in my students. I think that gaining confidence is fundamental to succeeding in any subject: even those which can initially feel difficult or intimidating can become genuinely enjoyable once they are explained in the right way. I’m happy to tutor Maths from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE, helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and prepare effectively for exams. For English, I tutor students from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE as well, including support with essay writing, analysis, and exam preparation. I can also provide support with EPQs and coursework, helping students develop ideas, structure their work, refine their arguments, and improve their written expression. Alongside tutoring, I love reading, learning about AI and swimming in the sea in Cornwall. I’m also currently learning Python and Spanish! I attended a high school in London with an academic scholarship, achieving ten grade 9s and GCSE and 98% in an Additional Maths qualification. I then studied Maths, Further Maths, English and Latin at A Level, achieving A*s and As. I wrote an extended thesis that was awarded 100% on recursion in mathematics and literature, and plan to study the philosophy of mathematics at university.

I love stories and music. This is why I did an English and Music degree, which I really enjoyed. Reading and writing are such essential and valuable skills, so this, along with my love of stories is why I teach English. I think the Harry Potter books are fantastic. My favourite Shakespeare play is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as I love the magic of the forest and the fun of the character Puck. I have also studied Ancient Greek. This proved to be a fascinating language; I found it interesting to learn where so many modern words stem from. I used to run my own drama groups; I believe in the importance of self expression and the confidence that this can bring to people. I have been a tour guide, which was great fun. It was an excellent opportunity to see many interesting sites, whilst meeting many wonderful people. I have worked with a wide range of students over the years and believe in the potential of every individual. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano. I try to write songs with my partner, who is a much better musician than me. It usually ends up with me writing the lyrics and him writing the music! I also enjoy sailing, writing stories and walking my crazy puppy; she is a mix of sheepdogs, so all she wants to do is round everyone up, including the cat! I am an English student at the University of Nottingham, currently working on my degree. I came from Essex, studying for 7 years at KEGS, a top-tier grammar school, where I attained 14 GCSE's, and 3 A-levels. I spent much of that time tutoring and teaching students below me, as I have a great passion for teaching. I completed my secondary education at a grammar school in Chelmsford, where I achieved strong academic results across a broad curriculum, including 14 GCSEs. Notably, I was awarded grade 9s in both English Literature and English Language. I then progressed to A-level study, securing an A in English alongside two additional subjects.
